About Us

Maria School, Kishenpur, Jaspur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand is a Christian Minority educational institution established by St. John's Society, Najibabad, a society registered under the Societies' Registration Act, 1860. St. John's Society is the officially and legally registered body of the St. John's Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). Carmelites of Mary Immaculate is a religious congregation in the Catholic Church. The Congregation of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate is the first indigenous religious congregation of the Catholic Church of India. It was founded in 1855 at Mannanam, Kottayam in Kerala. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was the founder. The area of activities of St. John's Society is the states of Utttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand.

St. John's Society holds fast to the principle that a human being is a positive asset and a precious national resource that needs to be cherished, nurtured and developed with tenderness and care, coupled with dynamism. It aims at shaping persons who are intellectually competent, morally sound, psychologically integrated, emotionally balanced, spiritually enlightened, physically fit, and imbued with a sense of the Divine, committed to the cause of justice and peace and ever open to further growth.

St. John's Society is aware that the above goals can be attained only in the context of an academic atmosphere. It believes that School is a powerful agent of change-social, intellectual, moral, and spiritual- forming new persons who foster universal and eternal values, and are fully alive to bring about a just society.

Maria School is deeply dedicated and committed to translate the above vision of the Society into a reality. Maria School is a co-ed day School recognized by Uttarakhand Government and is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi vide Code No. UT095 and prepares students for the prestigious Indian Certificate of Secondary Examinations (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Examinations.

The School attaches great significance to varied programs and activities outside the ordinary Class routine. These are aimed at developing healthy traits of character like honesty, self confidence, co-operation, diligence and to promote latent talents for leadership and responsibility. Physical training, games, athletics are employed to the best advantage to promote physical development and a healthy spirit of competition. Moral instruction is imparted to all the pupils with a view to inculcate moral values and a sense of justice.
