Recommendations to the Parents

Parents are requested to bear in mind that the school attaches great importance to building a sound character in the pupils. Therefore the parents are expected to co-operate with the School by making their children understand that a well ordered and a disciplined way of life is as important at home as in the School.

Parents are requested to co-operate with the school authorities in enforcing discipline.

Parents are expected to sign progress reports or any other similar documents when requested. Failure to do so will put their children to great inconvenience.

They shall also keep an eye on the attendance report.

Particular attention should be paid to the uniform which must be neat and clean. Pupils who do not wear neat and clean uniform are not admitted in class and would be sent home.

Parents are strictly forbidden to meet their wards or their teachers when classes are being held. Parents are requested to meet the teachers on the day of parent – teachers meeting or with prior permission from the Principal.

We recommend that parents check the school Handbook of their child regularly and enforce regularity and discipline at home and see that their child prepares his/ her lessons and does the assigned home work. Remark made in the Handbook should be seen and countersigned.

Withdrawal of your child from classes for mere social function is not recommended, because it retards the child's progress.

If a student is likely to be ill for a long period the principal must be informed as early as possible.

A student must not attend the school if there be any infectious disease in the home, until the danger of infection has passed. Intimation to this effect must be given to the principal.

If absence, due to illness, lasts for more than three days, an application for leave must be made to the principal, accompanied by a registered doctor's certificate.

Those who return to school after absenting themselves without leave shall not enter the class without the permission of the principal.

Changes in the address or the telephone numbers in the parents/guardians shall be intimated to the School authority in writing.

Parents are welcome to visit the school and discuss the problems of their children with the teachers or the principal, by prior appointment. However they are not expected to enter the class rooms during school hours.

Teachers are not allowed to give private tuitions to the students studying in Maria School.

When students are taken on tours/picnics or excursions, utmost care will be taken of their safety. However the authorities take up no responsibility for any outward incident which may take place on such occasions.

Complaint, if any, should be made to the principal in writing and not to the class-teacher.

Parents are invited to establish memorial scholar-ships, thus perpetuating the memory of a cherished one as well as helping in the education of some one who otherwise would not have been able to enjoy the kind of education that their children are having.
